Slide 1 of 20: A female house finch sitting in the center of the frame facing slightly to the left is perched on the branch of an overgrown radish plant, where it enjoys eating the radish seeds. The photo is mostly monochromatic with the background a light green and the plant a dark green. The only other color is the brown of the bird's feathers, so she stands out against the background. Slide 2 of 20: A small chipping sparrow sits on the ground of the woods, with an out-of-focus brown background of dead autumn leaves. A vignette of early spring green vegetation forms around the bird along the bottom of the frame and curling up the left and right sides of the frame. The bird is viewed from the front, with its head slightly angled toward the left, appearing to flirt with the viewer. It has a bright white chest and face with a black stripe around its black eye, and a bright red cap of feathers on its head. Slide 3 of 20: A seagull in midair flying toward the left of the frame with its left wing arched above its head and right wing below its body. The viewer can clearly see a crab in the gull's beak, which it is carrying by its leg toward a large rock, where it plans to eat its breakfast. Slide 4 of 20: A red winged blackbird perched on a vertical reed by the water, about three-quarters up in the center of the frame, facing right. The light blue color of the water provides a backdrop to the bird, and green vegetation forms a vignette around the edges of the frame. Slide 5 of 20: A bright red male cardinal on the right of the frame perched on a stick gazing toward the left of the frame, with an out-of-focus green background. Slide 6 of 20: A robin sits perched on a dead tree branch with its orange chest puffed forward and head facing upward toward the sky. It's yellow beak is slightly open as it sings into the air. Slide 7 of 20: A flock of seagulls sit on the sand of the beach. The three gulls on the left are resting and are mostly out of focus to the viewer. The gull on the right of the frame is in sharp focus, viewed from the front with its beak wide open as it squawks at the viewer revealing the roof of its mouth. It has a bright yellow-orange beak, bright white feathers on its chest neck and face, and grey feathers down its back. Slide 8 of 20: An Eastern Kingbird in midair, diving toward the water below to catch an insect. The bird is upside-down in midair with its tail pointed upwards and wings splayed to each side. It's belly is forward toward the viewer and its head is slightly angled toward the right as it swoops downward. Slide 9 of 20: A chipping sparrow sitting on the branch of a cherry tree. The branch the bird is perched on has few leaves, with abundant leaves filling the frame horizontally along the top and bottom of the image. Slide 10 of 20: A seagull walks through the shallow waters at the edge of the ocean, with water up to its ankels as it pulls its right leg forward. The bird is viewed from the front with its head slightly angled toward the right of the frame and its left eye on the viewer. The bird's head neck and chest are white with brown speckles, with a grey back and black tail. Its eye is a light yellow, and beak a bright orange-yellow with a black stripe. Slide 11 of 20: A closeup portrait of a goose at sunset. The goose is facing toward the left side of the frame and has the warm glow of sunset on its face and chest. Slide 12 of 20: A great blue herron viewed from the right side profile in flight, moving from the left of the frame toward the right. The heron gracefully glides over the water of a lake with its wings arced downward. The water gently reflects the trees of the background. Slide 13 of 20: A seagull stands on the right side of the frame against a pale blue background, angled toward the right of the frame with its face looking directly at the viewer. The seagull has white feathers on its head neck and chest with brown speckles, a grey back, and black tail. Slide 14 of 20: A fledgling American Robin with down feathers has just left the nest and is sitting in the grass in the center of the frame against a row of out-of-focus privet hedges where it shelters to stay safe. The bird does not know how to fly yet, so it is chirping to call for an adult bird to feed it. Slide 15 of 20: A small plover stands on the center right of the frame on the shoreline at the ocean. The gentle edge of a wave is immediately behind it. The bird has its right leg crossed in front of the left as it walks toward the right, glancing up at the viewer. Slide 16 of 20: An Eastern Kingbird in a tree shown from behind as it looks to the left. The bird is perched on a tree branch against a blue sky with tree branches filling the frame from the sides. Slide 17 of 20: A closeup of a small sparrow sitting on the ground with its wings outspread in the dirt as it takes a dust bath. The bird who has white red and brown coloring, is looking toward the right of the frame and it ruffles its wings. Slide 18 of 20: A female woodpecker clings to the right side of an old cedar trunk as it glances over its shoulder toward the right side of the frame. Its black and white feathers stand out against the yellow glow of autumn leaves in the background as out-of-focus pine branches enter the frame from the top left corner. Slide 19 of 20: A mourning dove is perched on a thin branch facing toward the left of the frame while keeping an eye on the viewer. The bird's brown tan and white coloring matches the colors of the wooded area behind it and is almost camouflaged, however the bird is in focus while the background is out of focus. Slide 20 of 20: A white egret in the center of the frame stalks through the tall grass of a salt marsh looking for food. The bird is seen from the left side profile with its left leg in front of the right as it walks around. The bird has a very long neck with a bright yellow beak and long lanky black legs. The grass in the salt marsh is a mix of light and dark greens and a golden orange color.
